Winding Down
By Michael Gruen · Mon, 19 Nov 2007 01:58:57 -0800 ·
Coming to the close of the night, our numbers are dwindling.
Microsoft just handed us all copies of Office 2007. Some people got Vista Ultimate. Microsoft has been a wonderful host.
…and a keg just arrived.

Core Team
By Michael Gruen · Sun, 18 Nov 2007 23:01:47 -0800 ·
Like many weekends before it, San Francisco has decided to proceed with a Core Team. At least twenty people have piled into one of the back rooms to discuss exactly how to proceed.
A big core team, indeed.
[ed: Of the weekends I've attended, I have yet to see a team so enthusiastic about what's to come on Monday. This startup will be one to watch.]

Managing the Creep
By Michael Gruen · Sun, 18 Nov 2007 21:19:34 -0800 ·
…the Feature Creep, that is. With its googly-eyes, diamond-sharp fangs, seventeen arms (and growing more by the minute), managing this beast requires more shackles than in Startup Weekend’s coffers. Even Andrew Hyde’s personal stash of chains aren’t proving sufficient.
BizDev to the rescue: they have developed a six-month plan to coordinate business efforts with the site’s development schedule.
Beast tamed, dinner is on its way. Good timing.

Fail
By Michael Gruen · Sun, 18 Nov 2007 20:33:33 -0800 ·
We’ve been having problems with the Internet all day. Apparently, 3 Compusa-branded routers can’t handle 60 simultaneously-connected laptops.
Tyler recently attempted to upload the promotional video.
Welcome to Thunderdome.

Reason #302 why I love lawyers
By Michael Gruen · Sun, 18 Nov 2007 20:19:18 -0800 ·
Beyond the popped collars and nepotism, lawyering certainly has its attractions:
In the lawyer’s corner, some members of Marketing, Dev, BizDev and Creative have been hashing out privacy policies, incorporation considerations, not-for-profit status, and licensing agreements. Like the beacon of wisdom in a fog of confusion, the legal team has all the answers to the teams’ questions.
This product, legally speaking, is starting to congeal.
As it stands, we’re incorporating a C-Corp, owned by Startup Weekend LLC and an LLC controlled by this weekend’s founders. Additionally, a separate not-for-profit company will be instantiated with tax-exempt forms ready to go for a manager to-be-determined.
Solid as Jello. Go Legal!*
